From Filomena Nalewajek – Canuck Place Children’s Hospice

June 19, 2008

Mr. James Westmacott and Ms. Karen Hanks

Co-Chairs, YVR Golf for Kids

Dear Jim and Karen:

From all of us at Canuck Place Children’s Hospice to all of you in the YVR community and the Canucks for Kids Fund, congratulations on the success of your 18th annual golf tournament.

As the luminary charity of the Vancouver Canucks and the Canucks for Kids Fund, Canuck Place is honored to be involved in this wonderful partnership and extremely grateful for the support we have received since our inception in 1995. We pay tribute to the contribution of the many people who have come together across the YVR community to make a difference in the lives of BC children. The long-term commitment of such a large group of employees is an outstanding model for the business community and reinforces our belief that it takes a community to build a Hospice.

Last year YVR Golf for Kids raised $200,000 for Canuck Place. Thanks to such fundraising events and our generous donors, every year hundreds of children and their families are able to come to Canuck Place to receive the highest standard of pediatric palliative care in the world. Whether they come many times over the years or for a single visit, we offer them a caring home-away-from-home environment, always reinforcing our core value of embracing life and making the most of the time available.

With the recent opening of a ninth bed to help meet the growing demand for our services, we will be able to provide 100 more admissions a year. Although we celebrate this achievement we also recognize that, with this increased capacity and further expansion plans, come increased fundraising needs. Your support has never been more important.

On behalf of all the children and families who need and use the services of Canuck Place Children’s Hospice, thank you for helping to make a difference.

Sincerely,
