From The Gm Of Canucks – Canucks For Kids
On behalf of the Vancouver Canucks and Canucks for Kids Fund, I would like to thank co-chairs Jim Westmacott and Karen Hanks, the YVR Golf for Kids directors and committees, tournament sponsors, the YVR airport, the community of Richmond and volunteers for their hard work and dedication in putting on this spectacular fundraising event.
I feel very proud to join an organization with a rich history in commitment to the community. Over the past two decades the Canucks for Kids Fund has contributed over $23 million dollars to charities in BC which support children’s health and wellness, foster the development of grassroots hockey, and facilitate and encourage education in British Columbia.
Thank you for making so many things possible for children in need in our province. Your presence at this event demonstrates that you recognize the needs that exist in our community and that you are stepping up to make a difference. Together, our combined generosity can make big changes.
We are grateful for the generous support of events such as YVR Golf for Kids, which enable the Canucks for Kids Fund to assist BC children in need. This year, the Fund was able to provide over $2.8 million in grants, which included over $1.7 million to Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. Other grant recipients included the CHILD Foundation for a new endoscopy suite at BC Children’s Hospital, BC Children’s Hospital Foundation for Pediatric Mental Health Building and the Centre for Childhood Diabetes Research, BC Epilepsy Society, Arts Umbrella, Vancouver School Board Foundation for Britannia Hockey Academy, and Phoenix Academy of Learning for bursaries for children with autism. The Canucks for Kids Fund also supports the Canucks Family Education Centre, the Canucks Centre for BC Hockey and Fin’s Friends, a character education program for BC elementary students.
Giving back to BC communities is something the Canucks organization is very passionate about. I would like to thank all of you for making a difference in the lives of young British Columbians.
Thank you for helping us help.
